Actress, Writer and Jewelry Designer Lauren Banks

I met Lauren Banks several years ago through my talented friend Rachel Bruno. Lauren is an actress, writer and jewelry designer, and she needed some headshots at the time. Since then, we’ve done several shoots together, and I’ve gotten to know her a bit. Like many of us in Los Angeles, she wears many hats, but I think, that makes us better, more well-rounded creatives. I thought this was great chance to find out more about Lauren and her artist’s journey.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Illinois in a well balanced environment. I attended school years in Chicago and lived in the burbs. Had friends in all areas, and was involved in many activities. I really got a chance to see all walks of life.

What were some of the major influences on your life?

These past couple of years have been tough. I’ve allowed myself to courageously tackle my creative projects, while also, slowly transitioning out of designing jewelry with crystals. This is a time in my life where I’m in a transition. Although we are living in dark times right now, it’s my responsibility to remain hopeful. Therefore, I pour all of that into my projects.

Tell us about what you do and what motivates you, inspires you?

I am a writer, actress and jewelry designer. I’m currently in a transition with my small business. However, as an artist, I plan on expanding my designs. I’m grateful to live in a time where it’s okay to do many things in life, as long as you have a plan, follow through, and give it your all.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I made a promise to myself in 2023 to have more fun. So we shall see what that looks like.

What are some of the major things you’ve learned in your journey? Any advice for others?

I’ve learned that it’s okay to stumble, and that life can be trial and error. Show up for yourself and be fearless. Carve your own path even if it doesn’t make sense to others. Have a plan, and execute. And most importantly for myself and others, give yourself grace. I believe that’s the key.
